What is the meaning of life?

Why are we here?

What is this all about?

Evolutionary explanation:

We exist to grow, mature, mate, and produce offspring. The next generation gives meaning to the generation before it. The continuation of life, especially intelligent life, is unique and universally important.

Ethical explanation:

We exist to do good. Personal development towards ethical enlightenment is a lifelong journey. As each individual improves, so does society. If individuals fail in their ethical development, it harms society. Therefore we all have a duty to ourselves and others to continually improve.

Spiritual explanation:

“We are made of star stuff.” “We are the universe, contemplating itself.” - Carl Sagan.

Nature is interconnected. Everything is a soup of energy and mass. No one understands how it began, where the limits are, but we do know it’s all connected, and the wonder of it all is truly remarkable. Intelligent life is a miracle, and it should be cherish.

Personal explanation:

Our personal bonds to others give our lives meaning. We are social creatures, and our capacity to love others and be loved is sufficient to give meaning to life.

Memetic explanation:

Our mental models of the world are pre-wired, or acquire through culture, or willing adopt, and/or derived, and they give meaning to our lives. We tell ourselves and others stories and these stories provide a framework to give meaning to life.

Omni-Competence:

The more a person or society understands, the more they can achieve. Development is the process of continual improvement. The goal of Omni-competence provides an ideal to strive towards. Doing things, and doing them well provides meaning.

Others explanations:

“There is no one answer to these questions, pointing me in a crooked line. The less I seek my source for some definitive, the closer I am to fine.” - Indigo Girls

The Etho-Liberal Society does not have thee  answers, rather it provides the tools for individuals to explore, and seek the answers.

Introspection reveals an internal world. Greater understanding of your internal world helps you navigate and better understand the external world. Ethical knowledge and understating, along with liberal thought and exploration leads to wisdom. Positive Integration with society moves things in a positive direction.
