Meeting Format

Once a local EthoLiberal Society chapter is formed, the goal would be to have weekly meetings.  The format can be flexible but in the spirit of the EthoLiberal Society is to promote ethical understanding, civics education, and provide inspiration. Proposed format:

1) Ethical education:  10 to 20-minutes.  Why and Because - The Art and Science of Moral and Ethical Understanding is a good resource for topics, discussions, and guidance towards ethical understanding. EthicsDefined.org provides additional resources.

2) Inspiration via Technology Education and Design:  10 to 20-minutes of exposure to great thinkers and innovators of today.  The TED.com website provides a massive library of presentations that inspire and educate.  It would be good to find local people to present as well.

3) Civics education:  10 to 20-minutes of education on some branch of government.  The discussion should involve details about individual positions within government, what these people do, what they can influence, how they get their position, and how they receive input.  It would be best to focus on local government first, then expand from there.  It would be good to invite local politicians to these meeting and have them provide a short presentation on what they do.

After these three sessions, the format would be open.  For those simply looking for the quick education, they could leave.  For those looking to engage more, they could break up into smaller group discussions.

If action teams were formed, they could try to push some agenda forward.  If they had success, they could share that with the larger community.

The EthoLiberal Society should be a place individuals and families would be welcome.  It's a place to feed your brain through continued education and mental stimulation.  It's a place to engage in your community and provide you with the tools to work for forward progress.
