EthoLiberal Society

Mission Statement

The EthoLiberal Society is dedicated to the promotion of ethical understanding, liberal thought, and civic engagement

Etho

A Foundation of Ethics

Ethical knowledge is innate.

"I feel, therefore I know ethics" is an axiom of ethical truth.

The EthoLiberal Society seeks to promote ethical understanding. Understanding requires we "know-why." Ethical truth is derived by using introspection and asking good questions.

Liberal

Liberating minds

A liberated mind is one that can overcome the fear of the unknown and move past ignorance. It is more interested in truth than with being comfortable. A liberal mind allows one to question their basic assumptions about the world. Through the use of introspection, good questions, and a basic level of ethical understanding, a liberal mind can derive ethical truth.

The EthoLiberal Society seeks to engage people intellectually and emotionally to help them more effectively deal with ethical matters.

Society

Civic Engagement

Individual enlightenment is a good thing; group enlightenment is how progress happens. Political engagement is how civil societies peacefully make things happen.

The EthoLiberal Society seeks to provide a place for people to come together to seek greater understanding of ethics, to learn and be inspired by new advancements in human understanding, and to provide a greater understanding of how to get involved politically.

Effective engagement requires we do the right thing, and that requires ethical understanding. Effective political engagement requires local participation. Grass-root movements require people to be engaged politically for sustained periods of time in a focused manner. If we want a better society, then we have to be the agents of change.

Community

Secular Ideals

What community do you belong to? How does your involvement in the world help society move in a better direction? How do you keep mentally sharp, how are you inspired, how do you engage?

If there was a place that you could go once a week to meet people in your community who conceptualized the world in a similar manner to you, would you go? If this place provided you with the tools to dissect moral matters better, inspired you by sharing new ideas from the great thinkers of today and gave you the knowledge and means to engage politically... would you so engage?

Secular people need a place to meet up. They need a place to learn. They need a place to engage. They need a community. The EthoLiberal Society seeks to provide this.

The EthoLiberal Society provides a place for people to come together to seek greater understanding of ethics, to learn and be inspired by new advancements in human understanding, and to provide a greater understanding of how to get involved politically.

If we want a better society, then we have to be the agents of change
